The Calydonian Boar Private Room

Home / The Calydonian Boar Private Room

Nino opens a space dedicated to private events on Via Borgognona

Welcoming guests and lighting up the back wall is the window decal depicting the Calydonian Boar Hunt*. The image reprises a scene carved on an Etruscan urn housed at the Museo Guarnacci in Volterra.

We will therefore call it the Calydonian Boar Room.

There are many elements of continuity with the historic venue—such as the wood panelling, tablecloths, and table setting—as well as many new features, foremost among them the view over Via Borgognona and the abundance of light that pours in through the two large windows, which end in generous oval shapes.

The space is designed to host groups of up to a maximum of 24 people.

For up to 18 guests, we can set a single large oval table, which makes the atmosphere especially festive.

*According to Greek mythology, the Calydonian Boar was a monster sent by Artemis to punish King Oeneus of Calydon, who had forgotten to honor her with sacrifices. The beast ravaged the countryside, and to stop it a great hunt was organized, bringing together the most celebrated heroes of the age: Atalanta, Meleager, Theseus, Castor and Pollux. The myth tells of courage, challenge, and solidarity among companions, but also of tensions and family destinies that intertwine within human stories.

That ancient motif on a window decal—which, since our grandparents’ time, separated and still separates the kitchen from the dining room—now reproduced on Nino’s new walls, forms a renewed bond with our roots.

It is the same spirit that guides our cooking: Tuscan dishes prepared with simplicity, respect for ingredients, and care for gestures handed down through time.

From the Valdarno to Rome, the Guarnacci family thus continues to share flavors and traditions that speak of authenticity and home.
